EXPERT BASIS FOR ESTABLISHING PROTECTED CULTURAL REGION BARDACA-DONJA DOLINA

On February 2nd, 2007, by Ramsar convention, wetland Bardaca has been declared to be a wetland of world importance, so it is neccesary that it gets the status of protected region, in the frame of regulations in Republic of Srpska. Bardaca is located near City of Srbac, in north-eastern part of Lijevce polje, between rivers Sava and Vrbas.

Protected region will consist of two parts: natural reserve Bardaca and archeological locality Donja Dolina. In Bardaca, there have been stated groups of invertebrates, amphibians, fish, reptiles, mammals and birds, as the most important group. In 1973, during his research, S. Obratil registered 178 species. Through archeological research of Donja Dolina, there have been registered 27 prehistoric, 4 antique and 14 medieval localities.

Region of protected complex has triple-stage regime of protection, with specified measures and regimes of protection depending on degrees of protection.
